The inspiration for the AVANTI Lab came from actor and artist Gloria Stuart. 
​Beyond being an accomplished film actress, Gloria 
was an energetic artist.  It meant the world to her to share her
enthusiasm for the Arts with coming generations.  We founded the
AVANTI Lab in her honor to use emerging technologies to
create new ways to share our greatest cultural resources with new
generations.

The symbol of the AVANTI Lab is the butterfly, which Gloria loved for its beauty,
grace, and perseverance. 

Whenever Great Gloria, as we called her, embarked on the beginning of a new
venture, she declared, "Avanti!"
